WHAT SURFACES DOES ETCHING WORK ON?
The Etching is perfect for porcelain and ceramic surfaces, such as bathtubs and shower floors. It’s also great for tile, ceramic, porcelain, quarry, travertine, and concrete – any rock-like surface..
WHAT WILL ETCHING NOT WORK ON ?
The etching should NOT be used on: plastic or fiberglass tubs, waxed or sealed tile, marble, granite, terrazzo, wood, metal, linoleum, or plastic tile.
DOES ETCHING CHANGE THE APPEARANCE ?
There are two ways the Etching can affect the look of your tile. #1 the gloss level, and #2 the color. If your tile is glossy it will reduce it to a matte or egg shell finish. If you have a dark color tile such as dark gray or dark brown, it will lighten up the color a few shades. The Etching is not for use on very dark gray or black tiles, as it can lighten it up dramatically. – We include a test sample with each order for you to test your tile and view how it will react.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY OFF ?
When used as directed, floors are immediately walk-able after completely rinsing with fresh water to dilute and remove the acid. You must rinse thoroughly.
WHAT IS JOHNNY GRIP ETCHING PRODUCT ?
The Etching is a light form of acid that causes a chemical reaction that etches microscopic pours into the top of the tile. Although it is a form of acid, it does not have the same smell or smoke that Muriatic (pool acid) has. Pool acid is much more dangerous.
WILL ETCHING WORK IN HIGH-TRAFFIC AREAS?
Yes, the etching is perfect for high-traffic areas. Because it is a treatment and not a coating, there is nothing that can wear off.
